Anxiety: A Growing Epidemic

January 27th, 2012 by admin in Medicine

With tough economic times and struggles in todays world, it is no surprise that emotional conditions like anxiety are on the rise. Approximately 40 million people over the age of 18 in the U.S. have some form of anxiety. And these numbers are growing steadily. The good news is anxiety can be treated and overcome.

Traffic makes people anxious, the population is growing and people have to get to work to support themselves. Income is dropping and housing and food prices are climbing. Good healthcare is hard to find, and we are developing poor health. We are continually faced with new challenging situations that can tend to build up and lead to overwhelming anxiety.

The good news is we are equipped to handle the things we are faced with. With good anxiety treatment we can learn to overcome obstacles in our lives and get through these tough times. We eventually learn to use our natural mechanisms to combat anxiety and face life with a new strength we never knew we had.

We are all learning to live in a new world and with new challenges that we face every day; it is no wonder that anxiety is on the rise. But with prompt and proper treatment, anxiety doesn’t have to follow us into the next generation.
